For most small businesses, the best AI website builder is Wix, thanks to its deep business tools. Hostinger is cheapest if you can prepay four years. Framer is best for marketing sites where design comes first. Squarespace Core suits service businesses that sell a little. Shopify wins if you run a serious store.

Quick answer card naming Wix as the best AI website builder for most buyers, with Hostinger, Framer, Squarespace and Shopify as alternatives

Every tool here can draft a site from a prompt in minutes. So the AI is not what sets them apart. What matters is what you pay after the first checkout. Watch for low intro prices that need a multi-year prepay. Watch for free domains and mailboxes that only last a year. Watch for AI credits that expire and transaction fees that grow with your sales. That is why I priced each builder over two years.

We took every price from each vendor’s own pricing page in September 2026. Double-check them when you pay.

What You Are Actually Buying With an AI Website Builder

An AI website builder is a hosted site platform that writes your first draft for you. It creates pages, layout, text and images from a short description of your business. You still pay for the platform underneath. That means hosting, a domain, email and, if you sell, payment and transaction fees.

You will edit most of the AI draft anyway, because the text it writes tends to sound generic. The subscription is what you are stuck with. Moving a finished site between hosted builders usually means rebuilding it. So pick the platform first, and treat the AI as a head start. For other kinds of AI software, see our AI tools hub.

Also check how you are charged for AI use. Take GoDaddy. Its Airo credits “expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over,” per GoDaddy. Hostinger Premium gives you 5 one-time AI credits, and Squarespace Basic gives you 10. Framer Basic gives you 1,000 a month. If you will keep making content after launch, the credit allowance is part of your price.

What a Small Business Site Really Costs Over Two Years

Over two years, the cheapest AI builders for a simple site are Hostinger, GoDaddy Airo and Framer. Each one costs about $400 or less with a mailbox. Once you sell products, transaction fees decide which is cheapest. Then Squarespace Core or Shopify Basic can beat plans that look cheaper on day one.

Scenario one is a brochure site. It uses annual billing, one mailbox and no online sales. When email wasn’t included, we added one Google Workspace Business Starter mailbox. Google lists it at $7 a month ($168 over two years). We left out domain renewals, since every builder’s free domain only lasts year one.

Plan Site cost, 24 months Email, 1 mailbox 2-year total Watch for
Hostinger Premium $143.52 paid upfront (covers 48 months) Free for year 1; renewal rate not shown $143.52 plus year-2 email Renews at $10.99/mo after the term
GoDaddy Airo Starter $239.76 +$168 $407.76 Renewal rate not published on the plan card
Framer Basic $240 +$168 $408 30-page limit, no built-in store
10Web AI Starter $120 + $240 +$168 $528 Year 2 at the listed regular price
Webflow Basic $360 +$168 $528 No CMS on Basic
Wix Light $426.48 +$168 $594.48 Light cannot accept payments
Squarespace Basic $456 +$168 $624 2% fee if you ever sell
Durable Launch $528 +$168 $696 Simple sites only
Squarespace Core $696 Free year 1, then +$84 $780 Workspace account free for first year only

Hostinger’s price needs some context. The $2.99 rate means paying for 48 months at once. So you pay $143.52 on day one. That is great value per month, but only if you keep the site that long.

Now the store scenario. Say you sell $2,000 a month online, or $48,000 over two years. Card processing is about 2.9% plus 30 cents on the starter plans of Wix, Squarespace and Shopify. So we left it out. We only counted the extra platform transaction fee each vendor lists:

  • Squarespace Basic: $456 in plan fees plus a 2% transaction fee ($960), so $1,416 total. Squarespace Core: $696 with a 0% store fee. Core is cheaper once you sell more than $500 a month.
  • Webflow Ecommerce Standard: $696 plus 2% ($960), so $1,656. Plus costs $1,776 with 0%. It only wins if you sell more than about $2,250 a month.
  • Shopify Basic: $696 if you use Shopify Payments. If you use a third-party payment provider, Shopify adds 2%. That brings you to $1,656.
  • Wix Core: $714.48. Wix’s fee page lists payment processing fees but no separate platform transaction fee.
  • Hostinger: says it charges 0% transaction fees on its ecommerce plans. So the $143.52 prepay is your whole platform cost.

What Makes the Best AI Website Builder?

The best AI website builder gets a good site live fast, at a price you can keep paying for years. Judge it on five things. Check the renewal price for the time you will stay. Check store and transaction fees. See which freebies end after year one. Learn how AI credits work after launch. And price extra editors.

A low intro rate that needs a 48-month prepay is great if you keep the site four years. It is poor value if you rebuild in one. If no renewal price is published, plan on paying more. Free domains and mailboxes almost always last 12 months. Then you pay normal rates.

Best AI website builders by use case: lowest real cost: Hostinger; small business all-in-one: Wix; design and control: Framer; online stores: Shopify

Best AI Website Builders for the Lowest Real Cost

Hostinger is the cheapest place to run an AI-built site if you can prepay. GoDaddy Airo is the cheapest yearly option with an AI builder you can really talk to. Both suit a simple local business site. Neither is the right home for a brand that is heavy on design or a large store.

1 Hostinger: Best for the lowest cost if you prepay

If you can prepay, Hostinger is the cheapest place to run an AI-built site.

What it does well. It gets you a decent small business site or a small shop for the least money. Every plan comes with a free domain and business email for the first year. Hostinger says it charges 0% transaction fees on ecommerce plans.

Key features:

  • Up to 3 websites on Premium
  • Free domain and business email for the first year
  • 0% transaction fees on ecommerce plans (per Hostinger)
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Pricing. Premium is $2.99/mo and renews at $10.99. Unlimited is $3.99/mo and renews at $16.99. Cloud Startup is $7.99/mo and renews at $25.99. All three use a 48-month term.

Best for: You, if you run a simple local business site or small shop and don’t mind prepaying.

Limitations. You get very few AI credits: 5 one-time credits on Premium and 15 on Unlimited. There is no free plan. It is poor value if you won’t commit to four years. It also has no app market and no advanced marketing tools.

2 GoDaddy Airo: Best for a fast, conversational setup

If you want to pay yearly and talk to your builder, GoDaddy Airo is the cheapest option.

What it does well. It is the fastest way to go from idea to a live site. You talk to the builder instead of dragging blocks around. Paid plans let you sell unlimited products and services.

Key features:

  • Conversational AI builder
  • Free plan with 50 AI credits a month
  • Unlimited products and services on paid plans
  • Free domain when you buy a yearly plan

Pricing. The free plan gives you 50 AI credits a month. Starter is $9.99/mo billed yearly ($19.99 monthly, 150 credits, 1 site). Professional is $24.99/mo ($49.99 monthly, 300 credits, 10 sites). Ultimate is $99.99/mo ($199.99 monthly, 750 credits, 50 sites). You get a free domain when you buy yearly. In GoDaddy’s words, it is “valid for 1st year only; renews at current prices.”

Best for: You, if you want a simple local business site live fast.

Limitations. Credits reset every month and don’t roll over. A busy launch month can use them all up. The plan card shows no renewal rate, so you can’t know your year-two price ahead of time. Plan on paying more.

Best All-in-One AI Builders for Small Businesses

Wix is the best all-round AI website builder if your small business will grow into bookings, a store or marketing. Squarespace Core is better value for service businesses that sell a little, thanks to its 0% store fee. Durable suits a one-person business that wants a site and a simple CRM together.

3 Wix: Best for all-round small business sites

If your small business will grow into bookings, a store or marketing, Wix is my all-round pick.

What it does well. One platform can grow from a brochure site into bookings or a store. There is a free plan on a Wix subdomain. Yearly plans include a one-year domain voucher.

Key features:

  • Free plan on a Wix subdomain
  • Booking and store features you can add as you grow
  • One-year domain voucher on yearly plans
  • 14-day money-back guarantee

Pricing. When we checked, Light was $17.77/mo, Core was $29.77/mo, Business was $39.77/mo and Business Elite was $159.77/mo, billed yearly. Wix says prices change by location, so yours may be a little different.

Best for: You, if you plan to add bookings, a store or marketing later.

Limitations. Light doesn’t include “Accept payments.” So if you sell, you need Core or higher. No plan includes email. Wix sends you to a paid Google Workspace account. It is more than you need for a one-page site.

4 Squarespace: Best for service businesses and creatives

If you run a service business that sells a little, Squarespace Core is better value, thanks to its 0% store fee.

What it does well. It suits you if looks matter and you sell services, classes or a small product line. Core and up include one free Google Workspace account for the first year.

Key features:

  • 0% store fee on Core and up
  • Free Google Workspace account for year one on Core and up
  • AI credits range from 10 one-time up to 20 a month on Core
  • Monthly or annual billing

Pricing. On annual billing, Basic is $19/mo, Core is $29, Plus is $49 and Advanced is $99. Monthly, they are $25, $39, $65 and $139. Basic adds a 2% transaction fee on store sales. It adds 7% on digital content and memberships. Core drops the store fee to 0%. If you will sell more than $500 a month, go straight to Core.

Best for: You, if you run a service business or creative business that sells a little.

Limitations. No free plan is listed. Selling memberships on Basic is costly because of the 7% fee. The 2% fee on Basic often costs more than upgrading.

5 Durable: Best for solo service providers

If you work on your own and want a site and a simple CRM together, look at Durable.

What it does well. Your site, leads and customers all sit behind one login. Launch adds a CRM with unlimited customers.

Key features:

  • Free plan on a durable.site subdomain
  • Custom domain on Launch
  • 50 AI images and 1,000 AI chat messages a month on Launch
  • CRM with unlimited customers

Pricing. The free plan runs on a durable.site subdomain. Launch costs $22/mo billed yearly or $25 monthly. It adds a custom domain, which Durable says is worth up to $40. Grow costs $41/mo billed yearly or $49 monthly.

Best for: You, if you run a one-person service business.

Limitations. Skip it if you need design freedom or a real store.

Best AI Builders for Design and Control

Framer is the best AI website builder for startups and designers who want a polished marketing site at a low price. Webflow is the pick if you need a real CMS, hundreds of pages or custom interactions. You will also need someone willing to learn a more technical editor.

6 Framer: Best for design-led marketing sites

If you are a startup or designer who wants a polished marketing site at a low price, go with Framer.

What it does well. It builds sharp marketing and portfolio sites and puts design first. Basic gives you 1,000 AI credits a month. A domain is included when you pay yearly.

Key features:

  • Free plan on a Framer domain with 1 GB of bandwidth
  • 1,000 AI credits a month on Basic
  • CMS items and staging on the Pro plan
  • Multi-language sites

Pricing. Basic costs $10/mo billed yearly. It gives you 30 pages, 1,000 CMS items and 50 GB of bandwidth. Pro costs $30/mo billed yearly. It gives you 150 pages, 2,500 CMS items and staging. Extra editors cost $20/mo each. Each extra language costs $20 per locale.

Best for: You, if you are a startup or designer who cares more about design than business add-ons.

Limitations. Its pricing page lists no ecommerce, so it doesn’t fit a store. Extra editors at $20/mo each can double a small team’s bill.

7 Webflow: Best for full design and CMS control

If you need a real CMS, hundreds of pages or custom interactions, pick Webflow.

What it does well. It can grow into a content hub with a full CMS and site search. Webflow AI comes with site plans.

Key features:

  • Free Starter plan with 2 static pages
  • CMS and site search on Premium and up
  • Ecommerce plans
  • Webflow AI included on site plans

Pricing. Basic costs $15/mo billed yearly ($18 monthly). It gives you 300 static pages and 10 GB of bandwidth, but no CMS. Premium costs $25/mo billed yearly and adds the CMS and site search. Ecommerce plans cost $29, $74 and $212 a month billed yearly. Standard has a 2% transaction fee, and the plans above it have 0%.

Best for: You, if your site will grow into a content hub and you have a technical person on hand.

Limitations. The editor takes real time to learn. It isn’t for you if you want AI to do most of the work. The 2% fee on Standard ecommerce often costs more than upgrading.

Best AI Builders for Online Stores and WordPress

Once selling is the main job of your site, Shopify is the right AI builder. Its fees drop as you grow, and its AI tools focus on products and orders. 10Web is the pick if you want an AI-built site that is still a normal WordPress install. That means you can move it somewhere else.

8 Shopify: Best for online stores

Once selling is the main job of your site, go with Shopify.

What it does well. Its fees drop as you grow. Its AI tools focus on products and orders.

Key features:

  • AI tools focused on products and orders
  • Card rates that drop on higher plans
  • Third-party payment support
  • Low-cost trial for new stores

Pricing. Basic costs $29/mo billed yearly or $39 monthly. Grow costs $79 or $105. Advanced costs $299 or $399. Online card rates are 2.9% + 30 cents on Basic and drop to 2.5% + 30 cents on Advanced. Using a third-party payment provider adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. New stores get 3 days free, then pay $1 a month for 3 months.

Best for: You, if products are your business and your orders will grow.

Limitations. Skip it if you mostly need a service or content site. Third-party payment providers add fees.

9 10Web: Best for AI-built WordPress sites

If you want an AI-built site that is still a normal WordPress install you can move, look at 10Web.

What it does well. You get WordPress plugins and the choice to switch hosts later. Plans include a free custom domain worth up to $30.

Key features:

  • AI-built WordPress site
  • WordPress plugins
  • 100 AI credits a month on AI Starter

Pricing. AI Starter costs $120 for the first 12 months. The listed regular price is $240. It covers 1 website, 100 AI credits a month, 10 GB of storage and 10,000 monthly visitors. AI Premium ($180 a year) covers 2 sites.

Best for: You, if you want WordPress and the freedom to switch hosts later.

Limitations. You handle WordPress updates and plugins yourself. Don’t plan your budget on the first-year price. The listed regular price is double.

How to Choose an AI Website Builder Without Getting Burned

Buyer's checklist for choosing AI website builders: real term length, renewal prices, store fees, one-year freebies and AI credits
  1. Price the time you will actually stay. A low intro rate that needs a 48-month prepay is great if you keep the site four years. It is poor value if you rebuild in one.
  2. Find the renewal price before you pay. If none is published, like on GoDaddy’s Airo plan card, plan on paying more.
  3. Check which plan drops the store fee. On Squarespace and Webflow, the 2% fee on the cheapest store plan often costs more than upgrading.
  4. Count the one-year freebies. Free domains and mailboxes almost always last 12 months. Then you pay normal rates.
  5. Read the AI credit terms. One-time credits and monthly credits that expire work very differently after launch.
  6. Count your editors. Framer charges $20/mo for each extra editor. That can double a small team’s bill.

How We Evaluated These Builders

We built the cost tables from each builder’s own pricing page and docs in September 2026. When a vendor didn’t publish a number, like GoDaddy’s renewal rate, we tell you instead of guessing. We did not run our own speed or design tests. Unless we say otherwise, what the AI can do is the vendor’s claim. No builder pays to be placed on this page. Read our editorial policy to see how we handle affiliate links and updates.

The Bottom Line

For most small businesses, Wix is the safest long-term home for an AI-built site. If cost comes first and you can prepay, Hostinger is by far the cheapest. GoDaddy Airo is the cheapest if you pay yearly. For a marketing site where design comes first, Framer is the best value. If your team needs a serious CMS, pick Webflow. If you run a service business that sells, pick Squarespace Core. Once products drive your revenue, move to Shopify.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI website builder for a small business?

Wix is the best all-round choice. Its AI builder comes with booking, store and marketing tools you can add as you grow. If budget comes first, Hostinger costs $2.99 a month on a 48-month term. If you run a service business that sells a little, compare Squarespace Core. It has a 0% store transaction fee.

Can I build a website with AI for free?

Yes, but not on your own domain. Wix, Framer, Webflow, Durable and GoDaddy Airo all have free plans that publish to their own subdomains. GoDaddy’s free plan includes 50 AI credits a month. To use your own domain and remove branding, you need a paid plan on every builder here.

How much does an AI website builder cost per year?

Starter plans cost about $120 a year for Framer Basic or GoDaddy Airo Starter, billed yearly. Squarespace Basic costs $228, and Wix Light was around $213 at the price we saw. Add about $84 a year for a Google Workspace mailbox if email isn’t included. From year two, add your domain renewal too.

Is Wix or Squarespace better for AI website building?

Wix is better if you want more business features and a free plan to start. Squarespace is better if polished design matters and you sell a little. Core charges 0% on store sales and includes a free Google Workspace account for the first year. Squarespace Basic’s 2% store fee makes it a poor choice for selling.

Is Hostinger’s AI website builder really $2.99 a month?

Only on the Premium plan, with a 48-month term paid up front. That is $143.52 at checkout. After that term, it renews at $10.99 a month. The free domain and business email last one year. Premium includes just 5 one-time AI credits. So if you use AI a lot, you need a higher plan.

Is Framer AI good for small business websites?

Framer is great for marketing, startup and portfolio sites. It starts at $10 a month billed yearly, with 1,000 AI credits a month and a domain included. Its pricing page doesn’t list ecommerce, so it is a weak fit for stores. Extra editors cost $20 a month each.
