For most small teams, the best AI rank tracker is SE Ranking. Its $129 Core plan tracks Google AI Overviews and AI Mode next to 2,000 daily keywords. Pick Semrush if you want one full SEO suite. Nightwatch is the cheapest bundled daily tracker. Advanced Web Ranking gives agencies the most keywords per dollar.

Almost every rank tracker now says it does “AI tracking.” Here is my advice. Look at how that tracking is sold. It might be included in the plan. It might be capped by a small prompt allowance. It might cost extra keyword units, or come as a separate product. That packaging decides your real monthly cost more than the advertised price does.
I pulled every price below from each vendor’s own pricing page or help docs in September 2026. Confirm on the vendor page before you buy.
This guide is one part of our best AI tools roundup, which compares picks for every job.

What an AI Rank Tracker Actually Tracks
An AI rank tracker checks your tracked keywords in Google. It records whether an AI Overview or AI Mode answer shows up, whether your site is cited in it and which competitors are cited instead. It shows all this next to your classic blue-link position. It measures keywords you pick, not your brand across every chatbot.
AI Overviews and AI Mode are different things. An AI Overview is the summary box on a normal results page. So trackers can treat it as a SERP feature and check it on every keyword. AI Mode is Google’s separate chat-style tab with no blue links. So most tools query it as its own “search engine” or as a prompt. That usually costs extra units or uses up a smaller allowance.
This matters. In its Q2 2026 earnings remarks, Google said AI Mode has passed 1 billion monthly active users. Do you mainly want to know how often ChatGPT or Perplexity mention your brand? That is a different job, done by AI visibility tools. You’ll find them with our other guides in the AI tools hub.
What AI Rank Tracking Really Costs at 100 and 500 Keywords
If you track 100 or 500 keywords, you can get AI Overview and AI Mode tracking for about $129 to $199 a month. The cheapest honest options are SE Ranking Core and Advanced Web Ranking Pro. Both include the two AI surfaces in the base plan. Semrush charges $60 more a month to add AI Mode.
| Tool and plan | 100 keywords | 500 keywords | AI Overviews | AI Mode | Update frequency |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SE Ranking Core | $129/mo | $129/mo | Included | Included (100 prompts/day) | Daily |
| Semrush SEO plan | $139/mo | $139/mo | Included | Not included | Daily |
| Semrush Starter | $199/mo | $199/mo | Included | Included (50 prompts/day) | Daily |
| Nightwatch Starter | €79/mo yearly | €79/mo yearly | Included | Via 50 AI prompts | Daily |
| Advanced Web Ranking Pro | $139/mo | $139/mo | Included, 2x units | Included, 2x units, US only | Daily for Google; AI Mode weekly or on demand |
| Ahrefs Lite | $129/mo | $129/mo | SERP feature | Via Brand Radar (5 prompts) | Weekly |
| AccuRanker Professional | $224/mo (2,000 minimum) | $224/mo | AccuLLM, price not listed | AccuLLM, price not listed | Daily |
Three things stand out. First, Ahrefs is the only tool here whose rank tracker updates weekly by default. That is too slow to catch a citation you lost this week. Second, “included” often means a prompt allowance, not every keyword. You get 50 prompts a day on Semrush Starter and 100 on SE Ranking Core. Third, AccuRanker makes you track at least 2,000 keywords. That is poor value if you only track 100.
Advanced Web Ranking needs some quick math, because it bills in weekly keyword units. Its Pro plan includes 7,000 units. Tracking 500 keywords daily in Google uses 3,500 units (500 x 7). The AI Overview engine run weekly adds 1,000 (it counts double). AI Mode run weekly adds another 1,000. That 5,500 total fits Pro at $139 a month for one device and one location.
I left Keyword.com out because its price moves with a slider. Price your exact volume on its page.
What Makes the Best AI Rank Tracking Software?
The best AI rank tracker covers your keyword count on its starter plan and tracks the AI surfaces you care about. Check five things. Are AI Overviews and AI Mode both included without an add-on? How big is the prompt allowance? Does it update daily? How does it score an AI citation? What are the billing units, currency and renewal cost?
We compared each tool using its own pricing page and help docs. We priced each one at 100 and 500 tracked keywords. My tip is to size the prompt allowance to the searches that bring in revenue. Don’t compare citation numbers across tools, because each one scores them differently. Only commit to an annual plan after the trial shows the AI data is useful.

Best All-in-One SEO Suites With AI Rank Tracking
If you also need keyword research, backlinks and site audits, buy a suite and use its built-in AI rank tracking. Semrush has the deepest AI Mode support among the suites, but it charges more for it. Ahrefs includes AI Overview data at no extra cost. But its weekly rank updates and small prompt allowance make it a weaker tracker.
1 Semrush: Best for an all-in-one SEO suite
Semrush puts keyword research, audits and AI Overview plus AI Mode tracking behind one login.
What it does well. It has the deepest AI Mode support of any suite here. Every paid plan tracks keywords daily. Adobe finished buying Semrush in April 2026, and the plans still use the Semrush name.
Key features:
- Daily Position Tracking for up to 5 websites
- Tracks AI Overviews on the SEO plan
- Google AI Mode tracking if you add an AI toolkit subscription
- Daily AI prompt tracking, starting on Starter
Pricing. SEO costs $139 a month, or $117.33 billed annually, for 500 keywords. Starter (SEO plus AI Search) costs $199, or $165.17 annually. It gives you 500 keywords plus 50 AI prompts. Pro+ costs $299 ($248.17 annually) for 1,500 keywords and 100 prompts. Advanced costs $549 ($455.67 annually) for 5,000 keywords and 200 prompts. There is a free plan and a 7-day trial. See Semrush pricing.
Best for: You, if you want research, audits and both Google AI surfaces in one tool and can pay for Starter.
Limitations. AI Mode only shows up in Position Tracking with an AI toolkit subscription. The SEO plan alone doesn’t cover it. When your domain is cited in an AI Overview, Semrush “records this as a #1 ranking.” That happens no matter your organic position below. If you only need rank tracking, $199 a month for 500 keywords is steep next to SE Ranking.
2 Ahrefs: Best for existing Ahrefs users
Ahrefs adds AI Overview data to its Rank Tracker for no extra charge.
What it does well. The Rank Tracker watches 19 SERP features, including AI Overviews. Brand Radar covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Custom prompts in Brand Radar are free on Lite and above. They update daily.
Key features:
- Tracks 19 SERP features, including AI Overviews
- Brand Radar covers AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot
- 5, 10 or 20 daily custom prompts, based on your plan
- Backlink and research tools under the same login
Pricing. Lite costs $129 a month with 750 tracked keywords. Standard costs $249 with 2,000. Advanced costs $449 with 5,000. Ahrefs says you save up to 17% if you pay yearly. See Ahrefs pricing.
Best for: You, if you already pay for Ahrefs for backlinks and research and a weekly view of AI Overview wins is enough.
Limitations. Its pricing page lists weekly rank updates on every plan. AI Mode is part of Brand Radar, not Rank Tracker. You get only 5 prompts on Lite, 10 on Standard and 20 on Advanced. It is weak if you need daily movement or AI Mode data on more than a few searches.
Best Value AI Rank Trackers for Small Teams
If you run a small site or market in-house, SE Ranking and Nightwatch give you the most AI tracking per dollar. SE Ranking includes a dedicated tracker for AI Overviews and AI Mode on its Core plan. Nightwatch adds AI Overviews to daily rankings from €79 a month billed yearly. Keyword.com suits very small keyword lists.
3 SE Ranking: Best for best overall value
SE Ranking gives you both Google AI surfaces plus 2,000 daily keywords. It is the lowest price in this group.
What it does well. Its AI Results Tracker covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini as part of your plan, with set limits. The AI Overviews tracker shows your position inside the overview. It also keeps saved snapshots of the SERP.
Key features:
- On Core, 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts daily
- AI Results Tracker covers five AI surfaces
- Shows your position inside the AI Overview
- Cached SERP snapshots
Pricing. Core costs $129 a month, or $103.20 billed annually. Growth costs $279 ($223.20 annually) for 5,000 keywords and 250 prompts. The AI Search add-on costs $89 a month ($71.20 annually) for 200 checks. It is $179 for 450 or $345 for 1,000. There is a 14-day trial. See SE Ranking pricing.
Best for: You, if you run a small team and want AI Overviews and AI Mode plus 2,000 daily keywords at a low price.
Limitations. One check equals one prompt on one AI platform. So tracking a prompt across AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT uses three checks. Add-on checks add up fast if you track hundreds of prompts across several engines.
4 Nightwatch: Best for the cheapest bundled daily tracking
Nightwatch adds AI Overview tracking right into its normal daily rankings.
What it does well. AI Overview tracking runs on its own with your keywords. An “AI Snippet Rank” column shows if you hold one of the top 3 spots inside the AI Overview. Every plan updates daily and includes unlimited seats.
Key features:
- Daily updates on every plan
- Unlimited seats
- AI Snippet Rank column
- Tracks prompts in AI Mode, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity
Pricing. Nightwatch prices in euros. Starter is €79 a month billed yearly (€948 a year) for 500 keywords and 5 websites. Professional is €159 a month yearly for 2,500 keywords. Agency is €399 a month yearly for 7,500. Paying yearly saves 20%, so month to month costs more. For AI prompts, Starter gets 50 prompts and 1,500 AI answers a month. Professional gets 150 and Agency gets 500. There is a 14-day trial with no card. See Nightwatch pricing.
Best for: You, if you track up to 500 keywords daily and want AI Overviews included at no extra cost.
Limitations. If you pay in dollars, currency swings will change your bill. AI Mode only comes from the separate prompt allowance. So it is weak if you need AI Mode data on more than 50 prompts.
5 Keyword.com: Best for pay-for-what-you-track
Keyword.com prices with a slider, so you pay only for the keywords you track.
What it does well. The starter plan includes AI Overview tracking with daily or weekly updates. It works well for a small keyword list that doesn’t change much.
Key features:
- Slider pricing by keyword count
- AI Overview tracking on all plans
- AI Mode on the 360° Visibility plan
- Standalone AI Visibility plan
Pricing. Search Visibility starts at $3 a month billed annually ($36 a year) for 50 keywords. The 360° Visibility plan starts at $26 a month billed annually ($312 a year). That gets you 1,000 keywords and 15 AI credits. The standalone AI Visibility plan starts at $7.83 a month billed annually. There is a 14-day trial with 100 keywords and 20 credits. See Keyword.com pricing.
Best for: You, if you have a very small keyword list that stays the same and you want to pay only for what you track.
Limitations. It is not an SEO suite. AI Mode needs the 360° Visibility plan. And 15 credits cover very few prompts, so AI Mode coverage is hard to predict.
Best AI Rank Trackers for Agencies and Large Keyword Sets
If you run an agency, look at Advanced Web Ranking first. Every plan includes AI Overview and AI Mode tracking and unlimited users. AccuRanker is the pick for very large keyword sets with daily updates and on-demand refreshes. But its AI coverage is in AccuLLM, which has no public price.
6 Advanced Web Ranking: Best for agencies and volume
Every Advanced Web Ranking plan gives you AI Overview and AI Mode tracking and unlimited users.
What it does well. AWR’s Google AIO engine and AI Mode engine come with every plan, even trials. So you get both AI surfaces without an add-on. On-demand refreshes within an hour start on Agency.
Key features:
- AI Overview and AI Mode engines on every plan
- Unlimited users
- On-demand refreshes within an hour, starting on Agency
- Free trial and 30-day money-back guarantee
Pricing. Pro costs $139 a month for 7,000 keyword units. Agency costs $279 for 14,500. Enterprise costs $699 for 35,500. Paying annually saves 10%. See AWR pricing.
Best for: You, if you run an agency with many client projects and want both AI surfaces without an add-on.
Limitations. Plan limits assume weekly updates. Daily tracking uses seven times the units, so Pro covers about 1,000 daily keywords. Each AI engine uses twice the units of a standard search. AI Mode is US only for now. It updates weekly, biweekly, monthly or on demand, not daily.
7 AccuRanker: Best for large keyword sets with on-demand refresh
AccuRanker is made for fast, accurate classic rankings on thousands of keywords.
What it does well. All plans update daily, and you can refresh on demand. Expert adds AI CTR and AI Search Volume. AccuLLM covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity.
Key features:
- Daily updates on all plans
- On-demand refreshes
- AI CTR and AI Search Volume on Expert
- AccuLLM covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity
Pricing. Professional costs $224 a month and starts at 2,000 keywords (with options up to 5,000). Expert costs $764 for 10,000 to 25,000 keywords. Enterprise, above 25,000, is quote only. Paying annually saves 10%. AccuLLM has no public price. See AccuRanker pricing.
Best for: You, if you track thousands of keywords and care most about classic rankings.
Limitations. AI tracking is part of the separate AccuLLM product. Neither the pricing page nor its docs list a price, so get a quote first. It is a poor fit if you track fewer than 2,000 keywords.
How to Choose an AI Rank Tracker

Pick the tool whose starter plan already covers your keyword count, updates daily and includes both AI Overviews and AI Mode without an add-on. Then check the prompt allowance and how the tool scores an AI citation. Finally, check what renewal and currency will really cost you.
- Check which AI surface is included. “AI tracking” can mean AI Overviews only (Semrush SEO plan). It can mean AI Mode through prompts (Nightwatch, Ahrefs). Or it can mean a separate product (AccuRanker).
- Count prompts, not just keywords. A plan with 2,000 keywords and 100 prompts can’t track all 2,000 in AI Mode. Size the prompt allowance to the searches that bring in revenue.
- Check update frequency. AI Overview citations change often. With weekly data (Ahrefs Rank Tracker, AWR AI Mode), you might not see a lost citation for days.
- Read how citations are scored. Semrush counts an AI Overview citation as position 1. Other tools show your place among the cited sources. So don’t compare numbers across tools.
- Watch billing units. SE Ranking bills one check for each prompt on each platform. AWR counts AI engines at 2x units and daily updates at 7x. Nightwatch bills in euros.
- Hold off on the annual plan. Annual discounts range from 10% (AWR, AccuRanker) to 20% (SE Ranking, Nightwatch). Only commit after the trial shows the AI data is useful.
How We Evaluated These Tools
We compared each tool using its own pricing page and help docs, checked in September 2026. We did not run our own benchmarks or accuracy tests. So accuracy claims are the vendors’ own. We priced every tool at 100 and 500 tracked keywords, because that range covers most small sites. No provider pays for placement in this guide. Read our editorial policy to see how we research and update guides.
The Bottom Line
If you run a small team, SE Ranking Core is the best AI rank tracker for the money. You get both Google AI surfaces and 2,000 daily keywords for $129 a month. Pick Semrush Starter if you want a full SEO suite and can pay $199 for AI Mode. Nightwatch is the budget pick for up to 500 daily keywords. Advanced Web Ranking gives agencies the most AI coverage per dollar. Ahrefs and AccuRanker rank lower here because of weekly updates and unlisted AI pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an AI rank tracker?
An AI rank tracker checks the keywords you pick in Google. It records whether an AI Overview or AI Mode answer shows up and whether your site is cited. It also shows which competitors are cited instead. Most show this next to your normal organic positions.
What is the difference between AI Overviews tracking and AI Mode tracking?
AI Overviews show up on the normal results page. So trackers usually record them as a SERP feature on every keyword. AI Mode is a separate chat-style tab. So tools query it as its own engine or prompt. That is why AI Mode is often limited. Semrush needs its Starter plan, and Advanced Web Ranking counts AI Mode at twice the keyword units.
Can Semrush track AI Mode rankings?
Yes, but not on the base SEO plan. Semrush’s help docs say Google AI Mode is a Position Tracking search engine if you have an AI toolkit subscription. Its Starter plan costs $199 a month or $165.17 billed annually. It adds 50 daily AI prompts to 500 tracked keywords. The $139 SEO plan still shows AI Overview citations in Position Tracking.
Is there a free AI rank tracker?
Not for ongoing tracking at a useful volume. Semrush has a free plan with limited AI visibility reports. SE Ranking, Nightwatch and Keyword.com offer 14-day trials without a card. For paid tracking, Keyword.com starts at $3 a month billed annually for 50 keywords. AI Overview tracking is included. But AI Mode needs a higher plan.
How often should AI Overview rankings be checked?
Daily is the normal standard, because AI Overview citations can change between checks. SE Ranking, Semrush, Nightwatch and AccuRanker update daily. Ahrefs Rank Tracker updates weekly. Advanced Web Ranking’s AI Mode engine runs weekly or on demand. My tip is to confirm a lost citation over a few checks before you react.
How much does AI rank tracking software cost?
For 100 to 500 keywords with both AI Overviews and AI Mode, expect about $129 to $199 a month. SE Ranking Core costs $129, Advanced Web Ranking Pro $139 and Semrush Starter $199. Nightwatch Starter is €79 a month billed yearly. AccuRanker starts at $224 for 2,000 keywords. Its AccuLLM AI add-on has no public price.
